James Howard Sexton was born in Dadeville, Alabama on October 2, 1943. He passed away at his home in Huguley, Alabama on February 11, 2025 at the age of 81.
He grew up in Dadeville, Alabama and graduated from high school there, where he served on the debate team. He attended Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, Tennessee. He spent the greater part of his working years as a lumber trader, buying and selling lumber. He attended the Church of the Nazarene in the earlier years of his life; in the later years he joined the Catholic church, but continued to attend a variety of Christian churches. He especially enjoyed Southern gospel music and was a regular attender of area gospel concerts. He also loved to play dominoes with friends every week.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Freeman (Buddy) Sexton; mother, Lois Baker Sexton; sister, Judy Sexton Fortenbury. He is survived by a daughter, Jamie Lee Sexton Rasmussen;
Funeral service will be held at Lake Martin Funeral Home & Cremation in Dadeville on Friday, February 14th. Visitation will be at 10:00 am CST with service at 11:00 am CST. Rev. H. Lamar Smith will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Dadeville City Cemetery.
