Gail Yvonne Hay Blankenship

Funeral services for Mrs. Gail Y. Blankenship, 83 of Daviston, Alabama will be Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Daviston Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Daviston Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will received friends on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Daviston Baptist Church from 12 noon until 2:45 pm, where Mrs. Gail will lie in state prior to her service.

Gail Y. Blankenship was born in Chambers County, AL on August 22, 1941 to Benjamin McKinley Hay and Winnie Georgia Ann Aikens Hay. In her early years, Gail worked in a sewing plant but later became a Certified Dietary Manager. to which she worked for 30 years before retiring.

Gail gained her heavenly wings on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Chapman Health Care surrounded by her family. Gail always had the heart of an angel and was willing to help anyone. She continued on this way until she was diagnosed with Dementia.

Gail is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Thomas G. Blankenship; son, Tommy Blankenship (Christol) of Daviston, AL, daughter, LeAnn Baker (Anthony) of Daviston, AL; grandchildren, Jamee Blankenship (Leeanne) of LaFayette, AL, Andrew Baker (Danielle) of Goodwater, AL, Jeremiah Blankenship (Kaytlin) of LaFayette, AL, Johnny Baker (MacKenzie) of Daviston, AL; great grandchildren, Syrena, Raleigh and Paisley; sisters, Clara Fant of LaFayette, AL, Annette Clanton of Dadeville, AL; brothers, Phillip Wayne Hay of LaFayette, AL, Ronnie Hay (Neppie) of Pensacola, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wallace Hay and Ralph Hay.

Our family would like to send a sincere thank you to Enhabit Hospice of Alexander City for the great care Mom received from them. We, as her family, can never thank you all enough.

Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made in her honor to Dementia/Alzheimers research.
